Google’s Generative AI reporting started in 2026. Since then we’ve collected data from several months across dozens of current and past accounts in each industry. Below are the average visibility percentages relative to Search Engine visibility. Note, this study was conducted using only data we had access to directly via Google Search Console and Google Analytics. Some brands in our list were actively executing SEO campaigns and others were doing paid media and organic social to get these results. The data suggested brands who were actively improving SEO and spending on paid digital media had an edge over brands that did nothing.
Observations
- B2B, Ag, and Insurance tended to have the lowest Gen Ai search appearance %
- Legal, Medical, and E-commerce tended to have the highest % of Gen AI visibility
- Retail, healthcare, and professional services tend to show up frequently, indicating heavy placement relative to other niche industries
Conclusions
- If you’re running B2B or financial services, does investing in AI tools and tracking really make sense?
- Are there industries where you should focus mainly on traditional SEO and paid media vs GEO / AEO tactics?
- Our data suggests some industries have more natural visibility than others
- Industries where companies do nothing to improve GEO / Generative AI are still getting more impressions than others
